OK here is the deal.

I have been with dtv for more than 10 years.

I have two receivers.
Upstairs is a HR21-700
down stairs is a HR24-500
I have whole home dvr service turn on.

At the time i was cheating the system by bridging 3 routers.
one AP and the other two as client bridge.
This setup works at time but is unstable and as we all know is not supported by dtv.

So lets get back on topic:
I i got fed up and called dtv to get the CCK and do it the right way.
But first i logged into my account on dtv and see that the CCK kit will cost my 25 for the router plus 6 dollars for S/H
Fine! 26 bucks.

So i figure maybe if i call dtv i could save this 26 dollars. WRONG!!!!
I talked to a very nice guy and we talked about my setup.

The HR24 no problem.
The HR21 needs a DECA for whole home to work.
I think fine lets do it.
Send me the CCK kit and the DECA and I'll be good to go.

Then he tells me the it's going to cost me 199.00 for the whole home dvr service.
I say WTF!!!
I say this is a self install and it's going to cost me 199?
He say YES.

NO problem, I tell him to pound salt and cancel the cck/whole home service.

Now I'm back to hacking my other routers to make whole home work again.

Maybe i should ask it this way.

Why would dtv charge me 199.00 for a service that only cost 3 bucks a month and i hook it up myself (CCK self install)
On line it says CCK=25$ plus 6$ S/H

The question is, What is this 199$ for???

Are you sure he wasn't adding a receiver to your set up? HD DVR cost $199.99.

Ya know, that is a good question i never though of.(Leave it to d* to sell me something i don't need)
You can see from my first post what receivers i have.

As far as i know i only need the CCK.
Am i wrong or an i missing something in my set up

Do you have the "unsupported mrv" turned on and paying the $3/month?

If you have a SWM setup, just buy a deca off ebay or solidsignal or similar, and the broadband cinema kit if desired (probably under $50 for both).

Directv sells a whole-home upgrade which can be upwards of $200. They would most likely do that if you're looking at a dish upgrade, swim install, etc. To go from an old non-swm setup they kinda consider it like a whole new install.

That said, if you're account is in good status, haven't had too many credits, etc, talk to retention and they'll probably make that upgrade much more reasonable.

The CCK Upgrade option for $199 was to actually install the SWM system in your home and it includes the CCK. You could order just the CCK but that price can vary depending on your services. It is most certainly not a self-install.

You have exactly what you need for MRV to work. SWM8 since you're using the 95 dish as well so you've got a SWM system already. I'd call back and ask for retention. Sounds like the CSR didn't know you already had SWM for some reason unless they're charging you the 199 to flip the switch on your account. And yes, I've seen customers get the shaft and lose out on it because of the 199 charge.

I may be that in his account settings swim is not checked. Generally it gets done by oms when the order is processed that swm equipment is to be used and once the installer closes the ticket the swm check mark on the account gets placed. Problem is with out that checkmark OMS will think that he does not have it and charge more as it believes it needs to upgrade to swm.

Well not sure if this is good news or not.
After i told dtv NOT to send me the CCK and forget the 199 upgrade.

Today out on my door step i find an brand new CCK.
I checked my account and find no extra charges.
Looks like i got out of the 25$ CCK and the 6.99 S/H charge for free.
The mistake is on there end?

12/18/2012 Ship Cinema Connect Kit - SalesOrderCancl($6.99)($0.46)
12/18/2012 Cinema Wireless Adapt Kit - SalesOrderCancl($25.00)($1.64)
12/18/2012XXXXXXXXXXX Ship Cinema Connect Kit - Charge$6.99$0.46
12/18/2012XXXXXXXXXXX Cinema Wireless Adapt Kit - Charge$25.00$1.64

From my setup (See other posts above) What do i do with this now?
Do i need anything else?
Also i noticed in my account a (VCONWifiDeca) was ordered (NO Charge) what is this for?

I would keep an eye on your next bill, just to be sure ... they could bill it to the next bill.

Front panel light adjustment.

Thinking of switching from Dish(hopper) to Directv(Genie) ...any opinions?
