Hi Everyone,

I currently have TWCable with the few HD channels that they offer. However, it looks like I will be moving late summer - more than likely to an area where cable isn't an option. I'd been a E* customer for several years but switched to cable to have HD without any equipment charges. Since I'll likely have to go back to satellite, I'm wondering which of the two largest companies (E*, D*) is poised to offer the best HD programming at this point. I know that both are (or recently have) put up new satellites and that D* is putting up two more in 2007 allowing much more room for HD programming. However, I have the impression that most of the new D* programming will be locals as opposed to national channels. What about E*? Does anyone have any idea about the HD plans for either company? I'm just beginning to think about the options. I have a bit of time before I make the switch.

I look forward to your thoughts and opinions! Thanks.

It's too early to tell. With the recent addition of 10 VOOM channels and at least 11 more coming within the next few months, E* is the HD leader for the time being. D* of course will try to change that. They haven't announced specific plans, but by late summer you can expect to hear from them. So, don't make any decisions ahead of time. The situation changes every month!

I'm not really familiar with Verizon's Fios. Can you please tell more about it? What's the medium (sat, cable, broadband, etc.) and where will it be available? Only in urban areas or rural as well?

if you have verizon phone service, you should get it eventually. the medium is fiber wire straight to the house. kind of like cable tv, but much better. you can also check out verizon's fios home page. i think it is verizonfios.com.
