Hmmm, I wonder where that shop is? I'd pay a premium to have them check my dipstick!;)
 
Regardless of babeage within, that video is an automatic FAIL for any car guy worth his greasy rag in his back pocket...they wasted good time and Babeage on a CITROEN! Quite possibly the biggest POS on wheels. :rant:

Well, now, I have to take issue with you on this one. My Dad owned two of them, a four door sedan and a wagon. Both were very good, and very safe cars. Being it was the mid to late sixties in CT, it was difficult to find a good mechanic to work on them, but they were made better than many American cars at the time. You, of course, have proof that they were a POS, yes?

Sure, watch any episode of Top Gear. French cars are universally loathed in the UK for dodgy quality.Its actually a running joke on TG....LOL

Jayn, Seb don't count, you can race prepare most anything to make it last...besides, I am a Jarri Matti Latvala kinda guy! :D

Ah, a fan of the Colin McCrae win or crash out school.

Personally, I have a lot of respect for Peter Solberg. The guy loses his factory ride and pulls off podiums as a privateer in a 3 year old car.

As for reliablity, a lot of it has to do with the dealer network in the country. I would guess that given the 'love' the Brits have for the French, that it isn't so good.

I once owned a Merkur XR4ti. The car had a very bad reputation here for reliability, but a really good one in Europe. The problem was twofold. First, the dealer network didn't understand the car. It wasn't an F-150. Ford US kept obsoleting parts early as well, forcing me to go to specialists and import some stuff. The other part was Ford did a poor job of adapting to the American regulations. For example, when they set up the US specs, they placed the battery directly above the turbocharger. This meant it cooked the battery every 18 months.

But the chassis was wonderful, and the engine was right for the car. My wife and I took it to second place in the 1989 SCCA road rally championships.

For the life of me I cannot find anywhere in this thread where I said that Brit cars were good. All I said that Citroen's were and are junk. And then I said Brit cars were junk too. :what

That sounds to me like you are saying French cars aren't as good as British ones, as if the British cars were some benchmark of quality.
