I know football's a few months away,

but a few weeks ago, USA Today had a mini eight-team tournament where people voted to determine the worst single-season NFL team ever.

Here's the link:

Worst team crowned: '90 Pats edge '76 Bucs - USATODAY.com

Here are my thoughts:

1. I think they got it right- 1976 Bucs would have been too easy.

2. No offense, BillDel, but the Patriots uniforms were awful back then. Thank goodness the unis changed when the Tuna and Bledsoe came board.

Anyway, who do you consider the worst single-season team of all-time?

(BTW, can we try and not mention the 1976 Bucs? I doubt anyone was old enough to remember that year, and it's too easy to pick on them.)

1989 Cowboys. I hate the fact that my Redskins were their only win that season.

Hands down the 1990 Patriots. That team was B-R-U-T-A-L!!!! Their defense was way below average, but their offense was historically pitiful. That team had it all: terrible owner, terrible head coach (he was a very good DC, however), and most disgustingly, a team with sexual predators.

What about last year's ('07) Dolphins? They were pretty damn bad.

I sat through that 1990 disaster and I'm sorry, but there can't possibly be a worse team in any sport..........EVER!! I watched maybe 5 Dolphins games last year (vs. the Pats and via Sunday Ticket) and they were VERY bad, but NO WAY 1990 Patriots bad.

Agree. After a win in the second game of the season, the last 14 were unbelievably pathetic.

If anyone's wondering about my NFL team loyalties, here's the truth:

I was a fan of the Bills while living in Buffalo, but once I moved to Wisconsin, I switched my NFC loyalties to the Rams, when they moved to St. Louis from 1995 all the way until 2004 (when they got drubbed by the Falcons in the playoffs).

I became a Saints fan after that (This was BEFORE the magical 2006 season- I became a Saints fan in the spring of 2005, BEFORE Brees, Bush, etc.)

I still hold hope for the Bills, though...

You're too flip floppy Sabres. Pick a team and stick with them through thick and thin already! ;) :D

I'll chose for you:

AFC: Bills (Obvious choice since you're from Buffalo.)

NFC: Packers (How can you live in Wisconsin and not be a cheese-head?!)

You moved to Wisconsin and switched to the Rams?? Geez! I mean there are Vikings fans on the west side of the state and some Bears fans, but, obviously, most are Packer-backers. It's not the rational decision to go with St. Louis! :p

It'll be interesting to see how they fare without Favre, though.

I will say this:

I've always appreciated the Packers and their mystique and that they were good with Favre, but I don't clutch the Pack to my depest bosom ala the Sabres.

BTW, as for the Bills, I like some of their players, but I hope Marshawn Lynch's hit-and-run incident doesn't derail him.

A Redskins fan living in Kentucky?

Interesting...

Yeah back in 1980 or so my dad, who was a cop at the time, took the school patrol kids to Washington D.C. every year so we kinda grew from that.

No, but I do think last year's "Snow Bowl" in Cleveland derailed them! :D

Well by far the worst team of the 21st century is the SF-49ers!!!

Not the worst of the 21st century.

How about the Lions?

Since 2000, the 49ers have made the playoffs twice- the Lions zero.

IIRC, didn't San Fran pull off an all-time great playoff comeback?

You know the nfl network did a top 10 about the worst teams in nfl history. One team(s) that was mentioned was the Cincinnati Bengals but not for one year but a whole decade. The Bengals of the 90s was picked and I can't blame them. That whole decade was bad for them. So I would pick any Bengal team from the 90s.
