last night I got pixels on sat 61.5. these idiots installed my 1k4 dish in front of a power line and power pole on my home.

they could have had an unobstructed view if they moved the pole a few feet, but they were lazy and wanted to use a pole from a previous dish.

I should post a picture and their name and address to embarrass them.

anyway, I need to know which tps on 61.5, 72 and 77 to test and what the strengths should be.

Dish tech support told me that anything above 25 is good

I pointed many a dishes through power lines and never had a problem. Can't tell u exactly which transponders to check but a good signal would be in the 50 to 60's

I mean a pole is inches away from the dish. a power pole that receives the power line from the street pole.

I was told that there will be interference from the power line that almost touches the dish

what tp on 61.5 do I set the point dish menu to so I can check signal?

which tp for 72 and 77?

depends on your exact loaction - some of those tps are spotbeams and vary in strength from state to state.
but, as a general rule, green is good, yellow not so good, red bad.
if your signals are green...you should be fine.
i wouldnt expect to see sig strengths above 60, and as low as 30 is common on those sats.
try tp 11 on 61.5 what do you have and where are you?

IN my experience with the 1000.4 sat dish :

For 72 sat you use either 19 or 21 transponder to peak on. IF you peak on that sat and transponder and your skew is right, 77 will be there. There is also the azimuth cam that you can adjust a little to the left or to the right using a wrench , to get maximum signal strength on both 77 and 72.7. If you adjust to much to the left or to much to the right ,you end up with no signal on one of the sats.

On 61.5 it will be there if you have the dish peaked on 72 like the manual said. Now come next month the 61.5 sat will have much more strength on all conus transponders once they move all national programming to the new sat in testing . Starting 8/3 - 8/5 most all most all the national programming will be moved to the new sat. Then the old Voom sat up there for spotbeam locals will be used for nothing but spot beams. So the move will open more transponders for more hd locals over spot beam.

Minimum signal level for NYC area

satellite transponder/signal
110 14/68 15/65 16/70 21/68
119 14/62 15/65 16/63 21/65
118 01/50 02/42 24/55 25/57
61.5 10/48 14/66 29/56 31/47
72 15/50 17/50 19/51 21/50
77 13/40 16/34 20/38 21/42
but 72, 77 easily goes above those numbers. those numbers provided by (quasquality assurance). So i believe, if you have signal lower then is bad, if same or higher then you ok.

But recently I have some problems with signal for 61.5 on 1000.4 dish. getting signal for 14 transponder around 50. for 10 around 43. And it happend may be a week ago. If you live in NY and installing dishes have you noticed it?

a lot of tp's on 61.5 have been getting lower strength. not sure why, since they did launch another for that orbital recently. i noticed it on tp 10 first about 1 1/2 months ago.
