Which OTA local channel guide information will one recieve when out of market?

I am not sure if this is frowned upon by E* but ...


I am going to take my 811 reciever to my parents house in SoCal (Los Angles) to show them what HD look like etc and get them into the 21century

When I hookup my reciever to the switch and OTA I will get the LA OTA locals in HD but will I still get my NoCal (San Jose) guide info or will it be guide info for the LA OTA stations?

I live in northern NY, with no locals avail. and have an 811. I get no local quide info. I winter in Florida. When I take my 811 receiver to Winter Haven, Florida in Tampa dma, even though I do not pay to get locals there, I get Guide info for Tampa and Orlando stations.

You need to scan for locals or add them manually if you know the station numbers, if you do a scan you will lose your home channels, so when you return home you must re-scan.
