Ok I might be upgrading to a 4K set I always been a Sony guy when it comes to TV's but been looking at maybe going with Samsung this time around. I would want stay between 55 inch to nothing bigger than 60 inch to 65inch so I'm looking at these two models. One thing I like with what Sony is doing with their new sets is that they have Google Play on them for their Apps plus Android TV they are Google Cast ready as well. So they have some really cool features. Samsung has some good things as well they have Apps plus they support the Mobile Mirroring so forth. Sony has a 65 which would really push on the max size I would want where Samsung has the 60 inch but they both make a 55 inch as well. They both support Direct TV's 4K as well which is nice as well so I think either one would be fine just wanted to see what everyone else thought..

I am very happy with my Samsung. At the moment the Samsung is the most complete 4K solution available and is the only TV which currently supports DIRECTV TV 4K over RVU. The Smart TV features are the best I have seen from any maker. In fact I don't even use my Roku on that TV anymore as the built in Smart TV functions handles most everything I watch.

I'd wait and see what shakes out. I suspect that by the time UHD becomes a thing (if ever), the carriers will provide the means to bring HDMI UHD. Three of the four biggest carriers have announced UHD STBs by year end.

I'm not a big fan of Smart TVs as they seem like an "all your eggs in one basket" approach to a situation where offerings are changing frequently. Given the life expectancy of modern TVs I'm not sure a considered decision about flexibility and overall utility is worth the effort. If a TV only last five years, what's the point of it being upgradeable?

I'd like to see a UHD display without all the bells and whistles. If I need streaming or other smart features, I'll plug something into my AVR that brings it.

Another vote for Samsung. I haven't seen any reviews of the 2015 models yet but for the past few years Samsung has been the best rated along with the top of the line Sony. Downside of the 2015 Samsungs is the best models are curved. That is why I bought a 2014 8550.

Yeah these Samsung models are 2015 models only difference from the 7100 and the 7500 is that the 7500 are curved but not a fan of the curved but yeah right now I'm kind of leaning towards Samsung. But it will be a month or so before I do my update but I do appreciate everyone input as well.. :)

As generally TV's go I would go with an LG or Samsung. Specifically 4K, until there is real programming I am not getting a 4K TV so I have not done all the homework yet on which to get. On top of that it will have to be larger than a 65" for sure to be able to actually see the difference and I don't have room for that right now. I don't want to sit 7' or so from the screen.

Very happy with my Sony XBR65X850C ...
You probably knew going in that it wasn't DIRECTV 4K Ready (not to suggest that it won't get there). I've thus far been unsuccessful in my quest to change Crutchfield's insistence that it is.

Yeah right now the 65 inch Sony has a little better price that the 65 Samsung and I like it that it has Android being part of it as well plus the Google Cast as well. It's Direct TV 4K ready plus looking at the support page looks like there a update coming out this month that will make it Direct TV RVU as well. So those who have these model with Direct TV keep a eye out for it but I have always used Sony in the past. I know one thing that some have been discussing is that the Sony's don't support HDR like the Samsung does. When the time comes I will just have to go look at the two side by side and go from there.. :)
