I was reading another thread by Dishman Dan, Jan 5 2009, where he bought a package deal from an ebay seller in Canada. I could not reply to that thread as it was 243 days old. So starting a new one with the same topic about Invacom clone QPH-031 LNB's.

I also bought one of those package deals (dish, motor, quad LNB) from a guy in Canada on ebay. I already had an Invacom QPH-031 and have been suspicious of the "Invacom" I received from ebay, since the labels were totally different. The real Invacom has a holographic type label and the clone has a plain white & black one. But I just put it off has a design change or something until I read Dishman Dan's thread and the one with pictures of the clone. Sure enough the label I got from Canada was the Monster LC-101. I've had it for about 6-8 months now, so not much chance of complaining, returning of getting a refund.

The monster works OK, but has had a problem from day one of somehow interfereing with my 1x4 diseqc switch and blocking the signals from other LNB's on another dish. I found that going to the other dish LNB selection and toggling back and forth between channels would kick the monster out of the blocking mode and finally let the other dish LNBs get through.

I switched the two qph031's and the symptoms followed the clone LNB, so doubt if any switch, cabling, or receiver is causing the strange behavior.

Anyway that has worked until this morning and now only the monster can get through the diseqc switch. With the monster in the circuit, I can only get diseqc port #1 where the monster is connected. With it disconnected, diseqc ports #2 & 3 come through fine. So I'm looking to be buying another genuine Invacom, but NOT off ebay. Any recommendation on where to be sure I get the "real" thing and not a clone?

Anyone else have a simialr problem of diseqc switch selection blockage?

Thanks Iceberg. I see Saudon on ebay has free shipping versus the near $10 I would pay buying from his website. Sounds like a good deal, but still a bit cautious. The picture of the unit QPH-031 on both the ebay and website show no label. Neither a Monster in B&W or the holographic one Invacom uses. Any idea why the picture doesn't show a label? Or maybe new Invacom's have changed appearance since the one I bought.

I cant see Sadoun selling a clone but PM him and see what he says :)
I bet its the genuine one

What is the disadvantage of buying a clone? What are the differences?

Well the big disadvantage I see is that dishonest sellers are claiming it is an Invacom LNBF when in fact it is not. They are commanding higher prices based on the Invacom brand name and shipping some cheap substitute. Basically they are scamming people by offering a specific genuine product for sale and not providing it.

I think there are a few threads about the Invacom clone.

I was reading another thread by Dishman Dan, Jan 5 2009, where he bought a package deal from an ebay seller in Canada.

 THAT WAS ONE BIG HEADACHE THAT I FINALLY GOT RID OF!!!... :)

The seller told me to try the "Monster" and if I did not like it then I can return it. I did not try the thing but I wanted my Invacom! He said that the Monster is not a clone because it does not have Invacom stickers on it. My response is why are you advertising a QPH-031 which is a Invacom model and he also used the Invacom name in his listing up until I emailed him his own listing. I told him that he was right that it is not a clone... it is a cheap knockoff! The monster had a 1 year warranty and the Invacom has a 5 year warranty which was another minor detail to him. If the Monster would of been cheaper (in price) I might of tried it out. He could not tell me where to find any information about this thing and even a Google search found nothing! After putting up a good fight through Paypal and a lot of emails we came to an agreement. He would exchange the Monster for the Invacom with a little return shipping cost to a U.S. address that I had to pay. I was told that the Monsters were out of stock because they were selling so well and they had a lot of the Invacoms. After waiting patiently nothing came and then I was told that he was out of Invacoms and did not know when they would be back in stock. Finally I was refunded enough money to buy a genuine Invacom off of another seller and it was at my house in 2 days! Well, this great package deal took about 7 months to clear up! A replacement dish had to be sent to me because the original was damaged during shipping which was another exciting chapter to this story. I finally have the 1 meter in the ground and hopefully sometimes this weekend I will have time to finish it up and get it running! :D

I have purchased many Incavom LNBFs from Sadoun and they are all exceptional and all the original article - NO CLONES (I didn't realize that there were any). I trust these LNBFS highly as much as I do Sadoun's enterprise! You will be in good hands.

For starters, the FSS (linear) side of the QPH-031 is a standard LNBF, with a L.O. of 10750. Since it is not dual band (universal), it does not use up your 22k switching functionality. So, unlike a universal LNBF, you can use a 22k switch with the QPH-031. However, this would be the case with any standard LNBF. The biggest selling point of the QPH is its built-in DBS capability. The QPH-031 is essentially a dual output linear standard LNB combined with a dual-output circular LNB all in the same unit and sharing a single feedhorn.
