Where to buy a new HD DVR?

My dad wants to upgrade from a SD DVR to a HD DVR. Instead of buying the $199 unit from Directv, is there anyone else that sells new units cheaper?

Costco "sells" them for $169.

If you pay $169.00 or $199.0 they are Leased units. If he is upgrading from 0ne SD to one HD he will also need a new dish for the HD channels so his best bet is go through D* and get a free dish installed as part of the upgrade.

If he's been a customer for awhile, why wouldn't he just called D* & see if they would do the entire upgrade (new dish AND HD DVR) for FREE???

It seemed by the tenor of the op that he already tried to get a free one from Directv, but was told $199.
