I posted this on the other forum, figured I would post here to get some more exposure.

When our 2.5yr GE over the oven microwave is on, our main VIP722K becomes very choppy. I have a SDTV piggy backed onto the 722K that is fine when the microwave is on. I also have another HD VIP211K receiver that is fine when the microwave is on.

I have another microwave from the basement that I brought up and placed on the stove. It has a different power output and it did not affect the signal.

I put my built in microwave on an extension cord and plugged it into a couple different outlets that are on different circuits, still did the same thing. Some on the other forum suggested the microwave is leaking. But why does it only affect my main DVR? I tried the cell phone trick, it rings when inside the microwave. But a lot of posts on the web say this isn't a true test. I also put my laptop inside it, and I was unable to ping it (so it dropped the WiFi connection). The DVR is on a monster surge protector. I never had this issue when with DirecTV, but the satellite was on the other side of the house with different cable. The DISH tech used dual shield RG6 cable that is connecting to everything on the outside of my house.

Here is a layout of my house:

I'm going to replace all of the RG6 with new cable that runs inside the walls, like it should be. I'll have this done in the next month or so and will order the Hopper/Joeys. I really want this to be fixed before I upgrade.

Any ideas? I guess I'll see if it still does it with when I upgrade. If it does, I'll probably replace the microwave. Just odd.

Disconnect the run from the Dish ... that goes to your 211k .. *AT* the dish. If that line is traveling close enough to the microwave, perhaps its the line that's getting the interference and back feeding it.

If the problem still happens, then see if you can move the dish closer to the 722k ... without any connections going near the Microwave and the antenna itself further away ... maybe that will help.

Put a barrel connector in at the diplexer for your second TV from the 722 ... so that you drop that leg of the system out .. you could have a bad diplexer picking up the interference...

Just thoughts.. Good Luck!
