What's the Deal with 888-333-DISH?

Had to call DISH to get a 721 replaced (yeay) and thought I'd call them on the "special" number 888-333-dish. It goes directly to a DirectTV seller!

I could have sworn I used that number in the past for DISH. A search here shows Scott giving the number last year. A Google search ties the number to DISH via a few websites.

Am I losing it? Didn't Dish use that number in the recent past?

Wasn't that the number given on the Club Dish cards?

I accidentally called 888-333-3474 a few times, and it was DISH support for existing members (actual americans!) and not toll free india !

I don't know why 888-333-dish stuck in my head as an alternative to the 800-333-DISH.

Well anyway, they try to be sneaky and switch you to D*.

Call 888-333-3474 and listen to the menu prompts. I think they read these E* boards!

Menu#3: "If you have lost your local channels, press 3." Pretty funny, actually. Oh yes, I'm a 921 owner too.

I think you need to replace the '333' with '888' and you'll get through to E*

888-333-dish is a dealer with a soud alike number. If you called them in the past, they always said t0 call 800-333-dish if you were an existing customer.

It's all automated now. It's harder to get a real person than ever for BOTH D*(I can give out their # as well.... ) and E*. With D*, you have to give them the room location and serial # and half the time, the damn thing wants to argue with me about the fact that if can't understand me.... . Fortunately, I haven't had to talk to too many CSRs lately....
