What’s so special about getting DISH in your RV?

Our RV customers love satellite TV, and I can see why. But one of the questions I often get asked is, should I pick DISH or DIRECTV? In the end it comes down to personal preference, but there are some things to know. I’ll discuss the positives of DIRECTV in a different article, but in this one I’m focused on DISH. Signal Group is a DIRECTV National Accounts Dealer and a DISH Premier Local Retailer, so I can’t really say anything bad about either. It would be like picking one of your children over the other. It’s your choice, I just want to give you the tools to decide which is a better fit for you.

DISH for your RV

Choosing DISH for your RV means flexibility. You can choose to add a receiver to an existing system if you want, or you can bring your entire Hopper setup from home. Either way, it can be done. However, there are some limitations. If you want a Hopper, you’ll want a permanently mounted system like the KING Phoenix. You’ll need something like that in order to see all the satellites at once.

Choosing a “DISH Outdoors” account

A lot of times, customers like the flexibility of a DISH Outdoors account. This is a special account type for people in RVs. It gives you the power to do what you really want to do. With DISH Outdoors, you can

  • Stop and start service using their app
  • Change local channels to the area you’re in
  • Add or remove local channels from your account
  • Find out full details of your account from anywhere without making a phone call

The only thing about a DISH Outdoors account is that it’s geared toward those who just want a single receiver. It’s not impossible to set up more than that, but it takes a little work.

The DISH satellite equipment

You have your choice of several different models of DISH Tailgater equipment from KING. The top of the line model lets you run multiple receivers from one antenna and makes aiming incredibly easy. Portable dishes from KING work perfectly with the Wally receiver, with no additional hardware required. They are the fastest to get the initial aiming done. They’re also less expensive than their DIRECTV counterparts

DISH’s Wally Receiver

DISH’s Wally receiver is a superstar when it comes to RVs. Why? Because of the accessories. Here are three things you can add to your Wally to make it the best entertainment experience:

  • An over-the-air adapter to let you connect up an antenna for free local channels
  • A Wi-Fi adapter to let you get on-demand and even Netflix through your Wally
  • A Bluetooth adapter to let you stream to a soundbar

With a Wally, you have a lot more than just satellite TV. You have entertainment.
