Hey everyone! I just signed up with Direct. The first question I asked was if we get our locals in HD where I live (North Alabama) Huntsville stations. The lady says yes. I already knew that (I'm pretty sure) we don't. Although that is a big deal, I went on to get my package ordered and it's a done deal. I'm getting an HD DVR. I want my locals in HD!! I'm rather familiar with getting an OTA signal and can do it if I have to, but I'd rather not. Here are my questions:

What HD DVR do you think I'll be sent?
With that box, will I even be able to get an OTA signal?
Why did she tell me that I would get my locals in HD when I'm pretty sure that is wrong?
Could I get national HD broadcasts? Is that hard? What are the steps??
I know my locals will be offered in HD soon (probably not soon enough to wait it out) how will I know exactly when?

What are my options?

I've always been a cable guy...... But I'm ready to tackle this monster they call satellite TV.

Please Help:confused:

Thanks

What is your exact zipcode? It looks like they don't have them yet in Huntsville just from a quick search online. As far as the HD DVR, you will either get the HR21 or the HR22. It just all depends. In order for you to get an OTA signal with the HD DVR, you will need to get the AM21 tuner from DirecTV which is an additional $50. It integrates it with the HD DVR and you can record OTA with it. Otherwise you can just connect an antenna to your TV. You can get the DNS locals from either NY or LA. To see when your HD locals will be offered, I would keep checking back on this site in the thread that is stickied although I didn't see Huntsville listed. Someone in the area may be able to help you further. You can e-mail DirecTV as well and ask them for a time table on when your locals will be launched in HD.

You can always "move" to an area that has locals. Birmingham perhaps? I would do that before I went with the DNS HD networks.

Seems like your other questions were answered

Do you mean move for real or "move"? I've never heard of this.....

Can you do that? How does that work?

Not actually moving, just changing your SERVICE address. Not your billing address, this is very important. Service only.

Edit: I sent you a pm with more info.
