I don't have Dish myself, but i was wondering what really is Dish Studio Ch. 102. Is it Dishes equivalent of Audience? I looked on Dishes website and it seems to show films and programs from other channels such as Dinner at Tiffani's from Cooking Channel and Bringing up Bates from Up (why these programs from lots of channels?). Has it rebranded since it was renamed from Blockbuster Studio?

It's a chance for Dish to show you about 4 movies every two weeks from 28 years ago, that you've seen 4,015 times already, AND claim that they are giving you something "free" that's worth anything more than what you are paying for it.

All this to supposedly make you feel better about the extra $5.00 they are now charging you per month.

Some people will fall for anything, just because they see the word "free".

Better than nothing, although I haven't found any worthy of recording on Dish Movie Mania to date. I did enjoy the Bond marathon on MGM during my free month. May now try to get the 1/2 off deal for BB at Home, so Dish marketing is working separate from the loyalty or free pitch, at least with me.

I looked at their schedule..all it seems to show is programs where they interview cast members of shows and films at weekends..I don't see any chat shows or Entertainment music/art type shows?, what was Blockbuster studio then?

It's mostly an advertising channel, showing content from other channels that subs may or may not have access to, with a smattering of old movies thrown in.

I got to see Spies like us for the first time in years as a nice trip down late Cold War memory lane and taped Harold and Maude for my wife who has never seen it. So it's not bad stuff so far.

Yeah, I haven't seen much on this channel that's worthwhile. The thing about the full episodes they do show, is, for example, they'll usually show a Cooking Channel program at the time that the entire Cooking Channel is in free preview anyway. I assume this is to try to get people to realize the Cooking Channel is even available in free preview, but it just seems silly to me, because I look at channel 103 all the time to see what is free, so I would just as soon watch the actual channel than bother with Dish Studio.

Most of us know to check out channel 103, or even the website. But how many times has there been a new member signing up for this site or the main forum, who starts getting aggressive thinking their bill will go up for u requested channels, because they suddenly got Hbo over the weekend, and don't want HBO. SG members are not normal members, so we cannot go off our experience as "common knowledge". Fact is, most common customers don't have a clue how the system works, why it works, how long it will work for...and they don't care. They just want to watch TV. Some customers do not even know channels like EPiX even exist, so I think it is a great way to help unfamiliar customers who do not want to learn something new and to explore what they are missing(the Studio and the Free Previews). I think it works nicely in conjunction with one another.

The few times I have watched full episodes on Dish Studio, I noticed that they have a lot fewer commercials than the actual channel. So, I would prefer to watch (or record) the Dish Studio version if they ever show something that I want to watch.

Hopper - Dish inserted Ad's skipback/skipforward issue

did Dish change recording "new and reruns" behavior lately?
