What makes the KING Tailgater Pro so special?

If you’re looking for portable satellite dishes, you’ve probably seen a lot of options. You can get ones that look like regular satellite dishes, but they’re on a tripod. Then there are large ones that permanently mount on a vehicle. Somewhere in the middle, there are portable self-aiming ones like the KING Tailgater Pro. There’s no doubt it’s the coolest looking one, on account of its transparent radome. Watching all that stuff work is kind of neat. But when it comes down to it, what makes this system so special? Let me run it down for you.

It does everything you want

This system delivers high definition TV to your RV or truck when paired with a Wally receiver from DISH. That’s what you want, right? That’s its whole purpose.

It supports two receivers

The PRO version of the Tailgater supports two receivers, not just one. That means you can have one outside for the party and let the people inside watch something else. It’s a pretty cool trick.

You have mounting options

You can mount it permanently on a roof, put it on a specially designed tripod, or just set it on a level surface. It’s completely up to you.

There’s a big handle and…

So the big handle isn’t just for show. The smooth radome can be slippery, and the handle is oversized to let you carry it securely. It’s not the kind of thing you want to drop, of course.

If the handle isn’t cool enough for you, check out this custom-designed backpack which holds the Tailgater and all the accessories you need. Let someone else carry the tent, you’re carrying the entertainment!

OK let’s talk about that cool transparent dome

The transparent dome is about more than looks. It’s actually there for a reason. When you put the Tailgater on a level surface and power it up through your receiver, it goes to work automatically aiming itself. Most of the time, as long as you have a view of the southern sky, that’s all it takes. But sometimes it fails to find a signal.

In a case like that, the transparent dome is absolutely crucial. Knowing exactly where that dish is pointing will help you figure out what’s in the way of it. Then, you can move it to a new location that makes more sense. It’s not a feature you’ll use all the time, but when you do it’s really awesome.

The Winegard Pathway X2 is a better choice than the King Pro. The X2 will receive both eastern arc sats at 61.5 and 72.7 as well as the western arc sats at 110, 119, and temporarily 129. The King requires access to 61.5, 110, and 119 in order to get the full programming when 129 can't be reached, requiring a much wider LOS that just the 61.5 and 72.7 LOS.
