What is the difference between a DVR & DSR? (or more specifically what are they?). DVR - digital video recorder? DSR? I am waiting for Glorystar to get the new system released and I would like to know which one to purchase.

Thanks for you help!

DVR1100c - Digital Video Recorder - DVR ready. just add an USB drive to support DVR functions.

DSR100c - Digital Satellite Receiver - Satellite receiver with no recording function.

just add an USB drive to support DVR function.

Just to clarify. Adding an USB drive to support DVR function is to connect a computer or DVD recorder to record programs or to connect to TV with receiver?

The DVR1100c is a satellite receiver with a 2.0 USB port for connecting an external USB memory device. If the receiver is operated without an external USB memory device connected, it is only a satellite receiver. The DVR1100c cannot be directly connected by USB to a computer or DVD recorder. The USB port only supports memory devices.

Connecting an external USB memory device (fash or hard drive) will allow the receiver to record satellite programming, playback recorded satellite programming, listen to MP3 files, or view JPEG images. The USB memory device can be disconnected from the satellite receiver and connected to a computer. Glorystar will be bundling with the DVR1100c a trial version of a popular software solution for PC viewing, DVD burning, MP4 or MP3 ripping, etc.
