What is "Network Search"

I notice that just about every FTA STB I've looked at has an option in the Satellite and/or Search menu called "Network" or "Network Search".

What does that do?

I think it searches for newly added transponders.

But, isn't that what "blind search" does?

a network search is pretty much useless on this side of the globe. Its suppose to find freqencies with the same symbol rate but the only thing I can get it to work on is a DBS slot.

Network Search looks up the frequency table of the satellite, giving you immediate and full inventory of the various feeds that appear regularly.

Blind search asks you the range of frequencies you wish to scan, then proceeds to look at all possible variations of each frequency.
