90 Day installation warranty (cable, alignment, grounding, etc)
1 year Part warranty (Dish, LNBF, Rcvr, remote)
After your 90 days.. if you experience a problem, like you cut a buried wire while tilling your yard or something. Dish would charge anyone without DHPP out of warranty $99 for a service call. With DHPP they would charge $29.
Say a receiver breaks after 6 months. Dish will ship one to you free of charge, or charge a service call for a tech to come out and swap it out for you.
Like any warranty... you pay for peace of mind, not for practicality. $5.99/month for 12 months is $71.88. Say you had one service call.. $29. Your total with DHPP was $100.88 and without it your service call would have cost $99.
And then once you had a service call your 3 month installation warranty resets. Any repeat calls within 3 months are free to the customer.
The only savings is if you have 2 service calls over 3 months apart in one year. Then you would have paid $129.88 vs $198.
So basically, If you have trouble out of warranty you're going to pay no matter what. The difference is with DHPP, you're definately going to pay, even if you don't have troubles. But that's how warranties work.
