Last week I went on a Dish hunt and not just any dish....I wanted a 10-12 mesh dish. Well this morning I went and picked up my free 10 footer, that the lady's husband that I talk to took down. Yep you heard it right, it was free and the man had it down and in pieces. :) Can't beat that! Anyway got back home around 10 and went straight to work. Already had pole set and ready. Five hours later I am watching TV with it. Worked straight through lunch no break...whew. Could have went up quicker but I had no help only me. Not sure what brand it is. All that is printed on it is unimesh. Came with a Chaparral Dual feed horn with a C and a Ku LNB on it. I took it off and put on a GeoSatpro C2.

Heck ya free dishes rock. Nice score. I love my free 10 foot SAMI.

Yeah I didn't know if that was the name or not, never have heard of it till now. Loving it though, I am finally getting stuff, that I could not get before or was at the threshold. :)

Wally I will get some pics in a day or so. I thought about the camera a few times during putting it up but was so excited and wanted to see it working. Wore out now and watching NBC off of 105.

Excellent story!
Looking forward to pictures. :)

Maybe add a few more words about your motor & controller, and getting on the arc.
... once you catch your breath. ;)

Already on the arc. mircoHD-->Vbox X--->Well I will have to go look at the actuator. It is the same one I was using before it is 24". I had it tracking in about 30 mins. Declination didn't have to be moved and I take a meter out to the dish. Already had my angles set. Just had to bump it a hair to find true south bird. Then back and forth and a few adjustments and I left it. I'm sure it could use some tweaking. It is working pretty good though. Just went to 55.5 and then went to 125W and it is getting strong signals. Stronger than my 6' special modified to 9'. I was just looking out the window and it looks so much better, in the yard. I don't mean because I am giddy either about the dish, it just blends in better. I always wanted a mesh. The big white one stuck out like a sore thumb. Oh yeah I took the other one down. It looks like a toy now. :D

Is that your first big c-band dish, ke4? Sounds like you man-handled it just fine. I never tried a 10' alone, already assembled that is. My pole is on a little high point though so it shouldn't be too hard to do, if I ever had to take my 10'down or put it back. They're bulky but lightweight.

Yeah that is the first 10 footer that I have owned. I had the 69 dollar special that I added some panels to, but that was the biggest until now. I have went and helped several other people put one up or service then. I used to service a few around here years ago, but haven't had a C-Band dish service call in a long long time. Well other than a buddy of mine, I had to go put his on the arc for him last year. Then he played with FTA for a week or two and quit. He has a mesh too that someone gave him. I have tried to get it a few times, but he says no, I will do it again someday.:)

Yeah they are not real heavy just awkward.

This is what was on it. I wish it would have had a C-band on each side. I want to get one sometime and try it out so I can Have a LNB for H. and one for V.

Congratulations on the dish, ke4est!

My neighbor had a Unimesh dish back in the 80s. New owners tore the dish down about 10 years ago, all that I was able to salvage at the time was the buttonhook and separate LNA/block converter.

So I'm not the only one with a desk full of stuff. :)

I should hit my neighbor up, there is a 7 or 8' mesh there layed over, I got an 8' from her husband before he passed also a mesh... can't remember why he changed dishes unless it was because he bought a package deal when he upgraded or something...

I would jump all over that. Free cband dishes rock

My first dish c -band dish was a 7 1/2 dish which i swapped with an 10 footer. My 7 1/2 footer looks small compare to the 10 footer and the 10 footer get's me more channels.

It took my family a while to get used to FTA, but besides OTA that is all we are watching. No more monthly payments to watch commercials, at least commercials are free to watch with FTA and as a bonus I get to watch shows and movies on hundreds of channels.

Here is a quick picture I took on my phone this evening. Not the best pic, but will give you an idea.

As you said, it may not be the best picture but from what I see it look's like a good one.
