I was exiting the interstate the other day after a few work days out of town into a rest area. I couldn't help but spot a satellite tech up on the gas station roof putting a elastic bag over a dish. I wish I had my camera.:mad:

I waited for him to come down to talk with him. He said they put the covers on for winter on the NY Lotto dishes to keep them reliable. I've seen these before in the winter and was curious.

TV stations use them on their dish farms to keep snow from building up inside the dish. They work for the most part. You still have to go out and beat the snow off the cover if the snow is really sticky. They reduce the signal a tad and are self cleaning when the sun heats up the black material.

I coulda used one two days ago when the snow covered my dish.
Darn sticky cold stuff...:mad:
