One thing I really miss while having satellite television is when I watch The Weather Channel and it displays weather from cities scattered from all over the country and not your local city like they do with cable. I installed The Weather Channel app on my Roku Ultra yesterday, and yes, you still have to login with your provider (and Dish Network is one of them), but after that you can type your zip code and as you watch The Weather Channel you can see your local weather at the bottom of the screen just like cable! It doesn’t even matter if you’re “moved” with Dish Network or have a VPN or something similar because the app goes by the zip code that you type in! I’m not sure if this app is available on the other streaming devices, or if it functions the same way as I don’t have other streaming devices yet, but I’m willing to bet it is and does (but that’s just my assumption).
