The affiliation landscape in Charlotte, N.C. (DMA 25), will be changing. Bahakel Communications, the station group that owns WCCB, a Fox affiliate for 27 years, will lose that affiliation in the wake of today’s announcement that Fox Television Stations is buying Capitol Broadcasting’s two stations in the market: WJZY (CW) and WMYT (MNT).

Jim Babb, Bahakel executive vice president and COO, said Fox had put his station on notice this morning that the network planned to switch affiliations in the deal’s wake.

“Obviously we’re disappointed with the news,” Babb told TVNewsCheck. “But we’re determined to find a way to be successful going forward, and we’re already exploring various options.”

Nathaniel Brown, a spokesman for Fox parent News Corp., declined comment.

The price of the sale of WJZY and WMYT was not disclosed and the deal is subject to FCC approval.

Yea,that will kill WCCB ratings wise. They'll probably be trying to finagle a way to get ABC,or NBC.WBTV will never lose CBS imo.

CW will probably go to WCCB
What else would they go to? MeTV is a subchannel already so maybe make it a Main channel?

WCCB's news division will suffer as well.I think WCCB already carries Metv as a sub-channel.CW or trying to snag NBC or ABC is the only options they have.Cw being the easiest.

The owner (Bahakel Broadcasting) does have an agreement with CW on a couple of their other stations (subchannels) so possibly they'll take the CW. The thing is the syndicated programming WCCB still has the rights to it. So Jerry, Maury, Steve, TMZ, Anderson WCCB has the rights to it for the season so those may not move

Heck they could go Indy for a while if they wanted to

edit: Just saw another former Fox station (WTVW Evansville, IN) is gaining CW starting Thursday. Just for Prime time. Maybe WCCB could do that. A affiliate could just take the national CW stuff (2 hours a night and Saturdays) like they do here in Minneapolis (they show syndicated stuff otherwise) or they could get the CW+ feed that has programming 24/7

The CW would probably be the best option

Yep,they used to be independent years ago.Always had decent kids fare on.I was always mad because we couldn't get WCCB.

I edited part of my post above....If all they have to do is get 2 hours a night and 3 hours on Saturdays from the CW and keep the same syndicated stuff they could do that

CW+ is only available in markets 100-210, not in a market like Charlotte.

but there are affiliates in the top 100 that do have it.
But with the existing programming WCCB has they could just fill the 2 hours a night with CW and keep the existing programming on there

So Fox will have both their own Fox channel plus Mynetwork?Kind of figured they might go with the new movie channel on WMYT.

Need recommendations for a long range OTA antenna.

WDCW (50 in DC area is at reduced power (approximately 25%)
