The NHL playoffs have been pretty darn good so far...
Until now .... Thank you NHL, you have officially BLACKED OUT YOUR CHOSEN NETWORK.

Yes, the Red Wings are on VS tonight on SD and HD, as well as FSN Detroit.
So far I have watched the 1st two Wings games in fabulous HD.....
Tonight with the game in Calgary they decide to black it out in the Toledo, Detroit area.

I am sure that FSN Detroit has the rights to the game but why would they blackout thier specific network and take away the HD as well.
btw, the game is not scheduled to be on FSN Detroit in HD tonight.

They did the same thing in Pittsburgh all week, VS. was blacked out and they showed the games on FSN Pittsburgh, except for the NBC game.

I don't have hi-def, so it didn't bother me, actually I liked it better, got to hear the Pens announcers.

i moved to Iowa and have access to dns/dnshd all midwest prosports on the rsn
except detriot and cleveland cincy
all other teams in nhlci/mlbei/nbasp for me
msp locals in sd and hd still there

Thankfully no more bs hd blackouts for me
previous hd blackouts ruined my day more than once but no longer

ive checked with dtv my service and billing addy remain in mn

is MN/ANA in playoffs? never a mention of either on versus or nbc
"WAKE THE F*CK UP" NHL- classic jr
every team in playoffs should have at least 1 national game each round, provides lots more exposure for players and gives fans a chance to see players they normally wouldnt

Yes, but tonight I can watch the Nashville vs San Jose game in HD on 95 (VS feed), where as last night I could not.

I knew that the game would not be in HD on FSN as the only game scheduled for HD on the Wings schedule is game 7 IF nessasary.

Amen to that JImbo. I'm hoping the hitting returns also. Tha t seemed to be the key in the first 2 games, then they went on the road, and turned into last year's playoff pussies. Granted, it's very hard to win in Calgary. As for the power play, well that hasn't been very good all season. I'm having a hard time seeing that light turning back on anytime soon.

what he did was wrong he deserved tobe suspended but for no more than 3 games
ie Ray Emery did the same thing to Maxim Lapierre in reg season only difference Lapierre was slashed to the face
Emery got 3 games

but i say what brad may did to kim Johnsson in game 4 of Wild/Ducks series was far worse then Mclennan/Franzen incident

May suspened 3 games for sucker punch to Johnsson at end of game

but i am bias as i hate red wings

The McLennan suspension does not mean a thing, seeing he will not be playing anyway.
The ONLY reason he was in there is because the game was already out of hand.
I would be a serious suspension IF he was the STARTING Goalie.

nah Emery was starter when he did same to Lapierre earlier this year in reg seson and got a lesser suspension

Yeah, the suspension is just mandatory kind of stuff no real impact unless kippy gets injured. The monetary amount is substantial, but I like the NHL cracking down on illegal uses of the sticks.
I love rough and tumble hockey, the there needs to be a bit of honor in the game. Anything with the stick to physically hurt someone on purpose is not acceptable.

I've been a Wings fan and others since early '70, more a Bruins fan back in the Bobby Orr and Espo days, but started seriously following the Wings around the late 70's, slightly before " The Captian" came aboard. ( Steve Yzerman) for those of you that don't know who " The Captian " is, and was.

But since my family was big hockey fans, I feel like I have been a fan since the mid 60's with pictures and stories from my brother and father. Not to mention all the memrobilia in the house.

The fond memories I have of growing up and on most nights, we could get CBC OTA and my dad would live for HNIC (Hockey Night in Canada) broadcasts.
Ah the memories of HNIC in winter and in the summer evenings with a fan going and Ernie Harwell on the radio and the game on TV which was muted.

I cannot wait for CBC to activate the tower in Windsor to be HD capable.
I think the Toronto tower already is, at least according to an email from CBC a year or so ago.

If not HD at least digital would be very helpful.
I can pick up CBC with the OTA pretty well, problem is, I am use to seeing a clear and clean picture now, so I don't watch analog much anymore.

I hope the series is a good one, but I don't see it going past 6 tops, and not in the Wings favor.

Wings have forgot how to score on the PP so the opposing teams can do whatever they want.
Theres no more leadership no more urgency, the team is a shell of what it once was.
