Watching recorded programming from a 211 with no sat signal?

Kind of off the wall I know but we were thinking of getting a 211 for our RV and hooking it up to an external drive like we have at home. There are times when we are camping in heavy trees and can not get a signal. On these occasions it would be nice to just use the 211 to watch already recorded programming from the hard drive. Possible? Or does the 211 have to be "happy" receiving a good sat sig before you can watch programming of any kind. Thanks.

Don't hold me to this, but I think you can. But not the normal way. You have to go to Menu, 9(MY DVR), 1(My Recordings).
