Someone gave me a Panasonic Videocipher II CRD-4500-R over the weekend. No remote control, only 4 buttons on the front (EAST,WEST, CHANNEL UP, CHANNEL DOWN). Can anything be done with this unit without a remote, or should it be tossed?

Was hoping to get a C-band FTA system together with this unit.

Comments/Suggestions?

probably could pick up analog feeds and channels.....

By the way you describe that receiver, it would probably be useful for picking up any analog feeds as well as analog channels that are out there in the clear. The Videocypher module would only be needed if you wanted to subscribe to any scrambled analog channels. An FTA receiver that is DVB compatible receiver is best for receiving most of what is out there. Then, if you're looking for picking up any in the clear channels with Digicypher-2 encoding then you would have to shell out a couple of hundred bucks for a 4DTV receiver.

Its an anlog receiver.

Without a remote though, its gonna be tough because for KU it has to be programmed. C-Band you might be able to get something on it
