Retailer says Black Friday promotion is part of a more aggressive approach to the holidays.

NEW YORK (Reuters) - Wal-Mart Stores Inc., which launched an aggressive advertising campaign earlier this month to win crucial holiday sales, says it will match competitors' prices as part of its "Black Friday" promotions.

A spokeswoman for Wal-Mart said it was the first time the retailer was offering the promotion on Black Friday, the traditional day-after-Thanksgiving start of the holiday shopping season.

"It's all part of our strategy of ... taking a much more aggressive approach to the holidays on all levels," said Wal-Mart spokeswoman Gail Lavielle.

As part of the promotion, Wal-Mart stores will match any price featured in a local competitor's print advertisement if it has the identical product in stock.

If I can find a nice deal on a flat panel monitor for my dad I will be getting up bright and early.

That's the kicker though. Wal-mart on a lot of their products have models made specifically for them like Televisions and some other things so the matching gimick won't be that good.

Like the managers of wal-marts aren't tortured enough, now they've gotta put up with thousands more "gimme this cheaper" requests so corporate can look good...

...and those requests are in that tricky "english" that the managers have a bit of trouble with...Honestly, i'll stay out of walmart. I haven't been inside a walmart in 6 years and I don't miss it. Last thing I need on friday is being among hippo's and their obnoxiously non-parented children running around while I try to shop...
