I have a 522 hooked up to a Panasonic 42" EDTV plasma. Can I use a Voom receiver here to get OTA HD? A friend and former Voom subscriber has offer to give me his Voom receiver (antenna and all) for this purpose. I'll add that I live in the Virginal mountains where OTA reception is hit and miss and have been really curious to find out if I'm able to get any digital channels in my area.

I know it's going to be hard but please try to refrain from asking me why I don't just upgrade my Dish to a 927 or 921. The short answer is I really want to see if I can get OTA digital before making that investment. Thanks.

If you have the voom receiver and antenna, You should be able to hook it up to see if it would work. you won't be able to use it with the 522 but you could use a seperate hookup for the voom.Use the voom for your HD connection and the 522 in another connection.I have never had voom until it came to dish but It should work.

Do I need a new Dish for getting HD ?
