[VOOM] It's lost it's mind!!

I just woke up and turned it on and I think it's completely lost it's mind.
It shows the same feed on multiple channels, some channels say it receive
the signal and then shows the feed I was talking about. Locals either are
black or show the same local feed.

What is going on??

Reboot it, either by holding the power button in for 10 seconds or so,
or pulling the power plug and plugging it back in.

Re: [VOOM] It's lost it's mind!!

Mine did the same thing last night!

I needed to reboot twice, after I rebooted the first time it told me I was getting no signal on all my channels, another reboot had me back working again.

And then leave everything alone for up to twenty minutes to allow
everything to reload. I think you were installed yesterday, correct?
You probably received the upgrade last night and it didn't completely
take. Once it all reloads, I'll bet your clock will be correct, etc.
and you'll have version .68. Check in System Status once it gets done
reloading.

RE: [VOOM] It's lost it's mind....

Both of you are right. The first reboot (after hearing from Wilt) did put
the channels back in line but I still had missing signals so I unplugged it
for two minutes and when I turned it back on, it shows the right time and
channel 100 came in (it didn't first reboot).

I'm going to wait the 20 or so minutes before I switch channels to those I
know were out (201/878/412).

I'll let ya know then..

Well, that blows my theory. Yours shouldn't have received any
upgrade. Maybe I should shut up and go turn mine on.

RE: [VOOM] It's lost it's mind....

That did it. It's fully up and running. The only channel I'm missing is my
local ABC. I know it's only one channel but it _is_ ABC (Alias!! - nuff
said!)

I guess I have to call Voom and tell them I need the installers to return?

Quick Question.. does it matter what elevation the OTA antannae is? It's at
the bottom of my roof (where the drain is) pointing upward. I asked the
installer if it would help it he raised it up and he said no.

The elevation makes a great deal of difference. I played with my
OTA antenna a lot when I first bought my TV and I found that the
higher up on my house (2 story) I went the better the quality and
more stations I could pick up. Along with elevation, the direction
is extremely important. I actually had to place the entenna to the
top and at one particular side of the house.

I recommend that you have someon watch the local channels and using
a temporary long coax cable, walk around the roofline turning the
antenna towards the signal from all corners of the house until you
achieve the bect signal. Some will say that this is a waste of time,
but I can confirm that all kinds of objects (even the house itself)
interfere with the signal.
