Altho we are less than 15 miles as the proverbial crow flies from
Sutro tower in SF - there is a small hill between our roof and the
tower that would require a 40' tower on our roof to see the tower.
There are tall hills behind us. Maybe we could pick up digital
OTA by getting the signals that bounce off the hills. All I know is
that regular OTA TV comes in w. lots of multipathing w. the 30 y.o.
antenna we put in the attic a couple years before cable came in.
Question - is there a way to determine whether we can get HD OTA
before committing to VOOM? I wouldn't want to decide on VOOM w. the
idea we could get OTA and then discover at install time we can not.
What is VOOM's policy on this?
It is strange that D* never seems to have pushed tying an antenna
to their HD system the way VOOM has. Their business plan is to
deliver HD to virtually everyone via sat. What a waste of bandwidth,
just as providing LILs was for both providers.
