Today is the day. Get installed this afternoon. What exactly is the

The "OTA" is a regular antenna. In the old days they were called rabbit ears
but because they don't look like that anymore, it's just an antenna. OTA is
"Over The Air".. ie what the local tv stations put out over the airwaves.
The difference between using the antenna to get fuzzy picture tv and digital
HD is the Voom receiver processes the digital signal and you get picture
perfect HD instead of the old snowy type picture.

You'll be impressed with the HD channels you get from the satellite dish,
but wait till you see shows like LOST (ABC Wed/8pm est) in HD with that
antenna. I'm pretty sure I speak for almost everyone here, you will be blown
away with the picture.

Good Luck,

Re: [VOOM] Re: OTA

70 miles on the flats is doable. In the hills and mountains you better have
a rotor. Either way you will probably need an outside roof mounted antenna
designed for deep fringe reception.

RE: [VOOM] Re: OTA

Agreed Dan. 70 miles away is a looooooooooooooooooooooooong way away.

Honestly, I "seriously" doubt you will be able to pickup stations using the
standard antenna the installer is going to bring. You will most likely have
to get an upgraded antenna. Then again, depending on where you live
(altitude/line of site to antenna farm), you might get lucky and receive
them with the antenna the installer brings.

Let us know what happens today.

Good luck,

[VOOM] Re: OTA

So I guess with a upgraded attena they will have to get on top of the=20
house. Lucily I am keeping my DirectTV with locals (no HD. Their=20
receiver is $350 and only get 6 extra HD channels). I will keep you=20
