My VIP722 was doing random reboots over the last 2 weeks but tonight it started it and won't come back on for more than a few seconds. Tried unplugging it and pulling the smart card but still won't come back on. Is the HD going out or is it the temp. Checked last cycle and high was 132, low 96 ave 114. It is not in a case and nothing to close to it.

Are you saying that now the unit will not come on at all or that after running for a time it reboots and then will not come back up?

If it is the former - there is a failure somewhere in the system, either the receiver or an LNB (probably the receiver).

Call Dish tech support and have them go through trouble shooting routine and they will probably send a replacement.

I have called tech support and it looks like it might be the recever. The unit will not stay on anymore, constant rebbot. I have a lot of recordings on it that I need to get off. Is there anyway to do that?

Left the unit unplugged overnight and took cover off. this morning plugged everything back in and took about 10 min to reboot but it is working now. Will call tech support again and have them send me a new one cause I know the hard drive is failing because of the overheating issues. The drive was pretty warm last night when I took the cover off. transfering recordings now.
