my vip722 is connected through a cable broadband modem. it recognizes the modem but cannot communicate with dish network. any help would be greatly appreciated.
I assume you've done checkswitch and front panel reset. Try letting it get a download. A hard reset may help. Also check out the diagnostic screen for broadband-maybe it needs enabled.This is all so new, I don't know any sure fixes!
the connection is enabled and ok. but the dish technician said, the receiver was not communicating with them. when i try call out it says failure. they couldn't help me any further.
I have to reset mine every once in a while because the power goes out and it freaks out when the connection isn't connected and then I get one of those error messages saying they are going to charge me for a couple off weeks.
Are you running it on dhcp or static ip? It works better on dhcp and every once in a while you have to reset it so that it grabs a new lease.
I too have my VIP722 connected through a cable modem (phone line too) and occasionally if I check connection, (menu, 6-3, connection) it will not see that it is connected to my modem, although the phone line is fine. I think it is an intermittent problem through Dish.
