VIP622DVR Recording Issue

I just had the 622 installed and all is good until last night. I was recording Discovery Channel on TV2 and watching another recording on TV1. I went into the other room to record the second hour of the Discovery Channel and noticed that a NBC program was on the screen...I then went to change the channel and the menu popped up that says if I change the channel I will end the Discovery Channel recording. How can this be when Discovery was not even on the screen nor was it recorded...I checked the files and nothing was recorded.
