I've read here that the 622 only offers 2 channel audio via HDMI due to hardware issues. Can anyone tell me why?
Is there a work around for multichannel HDMI output using an AV receiver as the decoder vs LPCM?
Can anyone id the IC they used for the HDMI output?
And what is Line vs RF mode for audio out? I'm pretty up to date on formats but this one threw me for a loop. I'm guessing this is Bitsream & LPCM relabeled, yes?
I'm currently using YPbPr & optical outputs to an AVR, but would like to switch to a single cable solution via HDMI around Q2 of '07 when we upgrade to a Sherwood Newcastle pre-pro with support for the new HD audio formats for the BD & HD dvd players.
I really didn't expect this to be an issue of all things...

Actually it was just announced on Monday that the 5.1 through HDMI will be in the next software release. Scheduled around the end of the month. That should solve your problem.

Thanks, that certainly does solve it, and way in advance of when needed!

Where was that info released by the way?

Thanks,
Ward
