My first thought was the HD was the problem but I can still pause and continue from that point which leads me to believe that the problem may be elsewhere. Any suggestions?

If it's western arc, I use Transponder 21 on the Check Switch Screen, you want the 110 and 119 in the 70's, 129 in the high 50's.
