Hi! This is my first post on this board which I found through a google search. Since I am a member of two travel related boards and have gotten (and hopefully given) great information, I thought I'd try my luck here. :)

We recently got Dish Service the beginning of January. Overall we have been pleased. But now we are experiencing the 2nd occurence of a problem which first happened about 3 days after having our service.

We have a dual tuner HD/DVR which has worked fine, an analog box for an old TV upstairs, and then the problem a VIP 211.

After three days of working, it went dead. My partner called Dish and after going through some diverse steps which did not result in any power, they sent us a new unit. This worked fine for 3 months. Today it went dead again. When we unplug it, leave it, then plug it in, the green power light turns on for a second or 2, then turns off. Nothing happens. We've held the power switch for over 10 secs: nothing.

Since this is the second time it has happened, I think it may be more than a fluke. I did a forum search but found no threads pertaining.

Would any of you know what to do?

Thanks!!!

Yes you are leasing the equipment from DISH Notwerk so call them at 800-333-3474 and get a service call to replace thier defective receiver. Seeing it is their defective property that is stopping you from watching TV ask for a credit, you might get it.:)

Thank you very much. We already called and will get our second replacement. I just thought there may be a well known issue that could be easilt fixed rather than a box that frequently dies and just needs to be replaced. I'll try the credit question on the third time around, :)

On average I bring back 1, maybe 2 recievers that I found bad in the field. I see alot of people replacing recievers, it will check switch, work fine, then just a matter of time before it is dead again, this would lead me to believe there might be another problem somewhere else, perhaps in the sat line at some connection or just a plain cabling issue.

Defective receivers result in receiver replacements, not service calls genius. :)
