Is Dish slowly retiring VIP receivers? I heard they are not being installed anymore especially for new customers.
What is XIP/ZIP receivers?Hey, blatimer1983!
The VIP receivers are obsolete, so we don't set up new customers with these receivers any longer. If you currently have a VIP receiver, we still exchange those for any technical issues. However, we encourage changing to our XiP/ZiP receivers to avoid any programming issues resulting from needed migrations in the future.

These receivers are our Hopper family of receivers: Hopper 3, Hopper w/Sling, Hopper, and Hopper Duo, Joeys, and Wally. -SQWhat is XIP/ZIP receivers?
ThanksThese receivers are our Hopper family of receivers: Hopper 3, Hopper w/Sling, Hopper, and Hopper Duo, Joeys, and Wally. -SQ
Which is which? Maybe XIP refers to Hoppers 1 and 2, while ZIP refers to the hybrid stuff. These receivers are our Hopper family of receivers: Hopper 3, Hopper w/Sling, Hopper, and Hopper Duo, Joeys, and Wally. -SQ
Yep, Hopper 1/2 uses DPX signal while hybrid receivers are labeled DPZ. So both would match the XIP/ZIP acronyms which if I were to guess are their internal names.Which is which? Maybe XIP refers to Hoppers 1 and 2, while ZIP refers to the hybrid stuff.
The original hopper concept was XIP model receiver, until they renamed it to the Hopper. Catchier name than XIP 813.Which is which? Maybe XIP refers to Hoppers 1 and 2, while ZIP refers to the hybrid stuff.
I know second number is TV outputs, while the third number is tuners. I wonder where the heck 8 came from?XIP 813
Me either.I know second number is TV outputs, while the third number is tuners. I wonder where the heck 8 came from?
That receiver drove me crazy. It would reboot all the time and was unreliable. I ended up trading it back in for another receiver from Dish Depot ,when it was still open. There was an 811 HD receiver that came after the 6000.
