Does anyone have any insight (perhaps via dealer talks) as to when the 222 may be released. The feature I need is the agile modulated output to connect to my internal home cable distribution. If I understand this feature correctly, I should be able to take the TV2 remote to any room with a TV and watch either channel one or channel two. That way you do not need a bunch of Dish receivers in each location. I realize you don't get the HD lite (pun intended) PQ on the other TVs, but most of them are SD TVs anyway. Likewise I do not need the DVR features since I am happy with my 501 that records all of the SD channels and locals without paying the DVR fee.

Well, atleast you gave me some info as to what it is...

Dear .......
DISH Network is considering an in-home Product Performance Trial of our latest DishHD receiver. The ViP222™ offers the latest in satellite receiver technology and expanded high-definition programming.

Under this program, all you would need to do is watch a lot of DishHD programming and provide us with weekly feedback on your experience via a user-friendly online form. The Product Performance Trial would last 90 days; benefits to you would include:

You would also receive continued use of the ViP222 receiver after the trial period ends, allowing you to get the latest in HD programming.

DISH Network is currently soliciting interest in this trial and contacting potential participants from a select list of DISH Network customers. If you enjoy watching exciting DISH Network high-definition and standard-definition programming and would be interested in participating in this program, please click on the Yes, I Would Like To Participate link below to answer 3 qualifying questions. Interested participants must respond by Tuesday, November 14, 2006.

Sincerely,

DISH Network Product Marketing Team

Likewise I do not need the DVR features since I am happy with my 501 that records all of the SD channels and locals without paying the DVR fee.

You will end up paying $5 to keep the 501 activated so it would only be $1 more but adds HD recording.

If you don't mind setting manual timers you can record your locals OTA and save $5. If you don't subscribe to locals you don't get any information for the locals in the guide.
