I don't know if anyone caught the press conference in L.A./Beverly Hills yesterday, but Ed,Al,DLR and Ed's son Wolfgang (replacing Michael Anthony on bass) are going to do a tour of at least 25 cities (confirmed dates as of now) together, beginning Sept. 27 in Charlotte,NC.During the press conference,Roth mentions that the tour could expand to as many as 100 cities. They also talk about this being a new beginning for them, speaking about doing new albums and more tours together. Here is a link to the press conference,in its entirety. G4 - The Feed - Van Halen & Diamond Dave Are Back!!! Running time of the press conference is between 16-17 minutes.Van Halen's official site is back up and running once again too. Have to wonder how Wolfgang is going to keep up with school.... I thought that was a big factor in the "summer" tour originally planned.

I was wondering the same thing myself.I imagine between Ed and Valerie, they should have sufficient funds between them to do private schooling/tutoring for Wolfgang.

By law, he will need to get a minimum amount of tutoring each day.
I dont think so. If I recall he's 16 and at that age he can drop out if he wants to. I dont think thats ever going to happen so I'm sure he will have a tutor just like most other kids in Hollywood.

I'm not surprised there's no Las Vegas date announced after the shenanigans of their last "reunion".

Wolfgang should stay in school. His career as a rock 'n' roll star will last only as long as Roth and Eddie get along. The over/under is 10 tour dates.

Well DLR or not, NO Michael Anthony means no money from me. Its STILL not Van Halen. It MIGHT rank $15 out of my pocket at a decent small venue.

I like Michael Anthony but was Van Halen not Van Halen with Sammy Hagar ??

I would like to hear the band jamming on an instrumental, so we can hear Wolfgang mainly. Just imagine if he's got a good tenor voice like Michael ! I've heard Dave sing and it can be hit or miss at times.

Nope it was Van Hagar. A good band, but not the same. If I am going to pay good money to see the reunited Van Halen, that is what I want, not another 75% or less version.

And I agree with you; I am waiting to hear about DLR's chops; gone or not? Obviously EVH thinks he still has it.

It wasn't the same band, of course, but I liked both "versions". The original Van Halen definitely rocked harder... My favorite album (have it on LP still) is Fair Warning.

As for Michael Anthony, I think it's his choice not to be in the band at the moment. I know he jams with Sammy quite a bit but he's not in Sammy's band. Not sure what's the real deal....

I would bet that EVH has his panties in a bunch that while he and Sammy were at odds that MA was still playing with Sammy.. Hes a cry baby when hes trying to be sober.

Cool that they used the 1978 era VH logo...

And looking at the dates and venues, what happened to the original plan of it being "small" places ?? Damn .... that's sad looking at the names of the places. All but four are named after big companies.

The following link was forwarded to me via e-mail a little while ago.It contains a 6:21 video of a Van Halen rehearsal from L.A. this past weekend.A word of caution in case there may be kids around:There is brief foul language (use of the "F" word) from Roth shortly after the start of the video.EVH still looks sober and is smokin' on the guitar. :D YouTube - OWNED David Lee Roth Style
