Using DVD/VCR Recorder w/SkyAngel

I have been viewing SkyAngel programming for a few days now and I am satisfied with the video and sound quality. Today I connected my VCR & DVD recorder (combo) to record programs that I would like to keep for awhile. RCA cables are running from the SA box to the DVD/VCR inputs, then from the DVD/VCR outputs to the TV inputs. This may be an obvious annoyance, but there is no signal to the TV unless the DVD/VCR is powered on. This was not the case with my old sattellite service where I had a coaxial cable coming in to the DVD/VCR.
I welcome the wisdom of this forum if there is a better way to record programs on SA, and not have SA dependent on powering on the recorder.

Get some RCA cable Y's (or splitters). You will need three, video, left and right audio. Something like this RCA Audio/Video Y-cable : ShoppersChoice.com

The male end of the Y goes in the SA box. The 2 female ends connect cables to your TV and VCR.
