It's been a while since I played around with various dish's so just to make sure I don't damage the used 301 receiver I just got I'm going to ask about this. I know I can use a DirecTV single LNB dish with the 301 but what about the DirecTV 3 LNB dish. Are the switches compatible between the receivers so I can get the DISH 119 and 110 birds ?

I tried hooking a 501 up to a 3 lnb DTV dish once, it didn't work. I ran a check switch test and it came back with nothing. I don't think I was able to get any signal at all. It would not hurt the receiver to try it though.

nope...cause directv does an odd thing of stacking the 110, and 119 both on the 22khz side inside the lnb. And the dish receivers are not able to seperate those signals back out in the receiver.
