i was going to try and receive the 4080 rtn mux on amc3 87w.when i get the chance.I have a 6 foot dish with an openbox s9 which does not an actuator, which that comes later.I have picked up reelzs which is dvbs2 and on 91w with a lower fec just fine. Now i want to see if i can get 87w rtn mux since i can take the time and hand tune it with out and actuator in the way. Also do you think a inline signal amplifier will increase my chances of getting this mux?

unless you're running like 400 feet of coax the answer is NO an amp wont help. Might actually hurt more.

You answered your own question. The FEC is what makes a mux (group of channels) easy or difficult to get. Reelz uses 3/4 FEC while RTV is 5/6. The higher the number the amount of signal you need for stability increases. Also AMC3 is an older sat than G17 is.
I have always had issues getting RTV on 87W with my 6 footer.
