Used dish equipment

I just upgraded to HD DVR's but the engineer, when I asked about taking old 508's with him, said he doesn't have a RA#, so I can keep them.

I think I paid dish DVR upgrade fees when I got this equipment initially during initial sign-up a few years back, but unsure if I own it or not.

My questions are:
1. Should I keep the DVR's?
2. If so, and if I sell those, would a buyer have any problems activating the equipment with Dish?
3. Should I include smart cards with the receivers if I sell them?

Thanks

1. Call Dish directly and ask if they need to be returned. If the unit were leased, next user would not be able to use it. You should be able to keep using it since you were the one that leased it.
2. If Dish says you owned it, then you can sell it the new user can activate it.
3. Yes, the smart cards go with the receiver (either back to Dish or to new owner).

Note: Just because the installer doesn't have the authority to take them, does not mean they don't have to be returned to Dish.

Why should I pay $7

Dish 6000 receiver dead?
