sorry if this is the wrong thread - but, I'm confused - I've read that both 622's & 722's will get the updates, then I read that only 722's, then 612 with mpeg 4 & all 722's - would someone clarify once & for all? I have a 622 dvr - will it get the update or am I out of luck?

where are the hd locals that were "planned" for july 30th????? Not just for mine(which I am ticked by the way) but for all the others that were on that slide....Have they just said we aren't going to get them out? I mean c'mon......!!

Anxious to see when they turn on the SD mpeg-4 and HD mpeg-4 channels that were formerly mpeg-2.

I believe you are talking about the 610 update. Your 622 will get it after it is sent out to the 722. Seems like I read here that most should get it by Aug.11.

Dish forgot to put up a slate channel from the looks of it... how will we ever know that we are pointed at 72.7?

Thats a very good question? I wish someone could help with the answer.

Well they're up there....mainly scrambled but the normal free channels up there
Dish 101,480,490
103 & 500 but those show color bars and not the PPV preview stuff (weird)

But its in 1080 :) Couple pics...these are taken from a FTA box that can do MPEG4. Now before someone says it, the channels above are free to air and any FTA box can get them. 99% of the channels say scrambled
(disregard the satellite listed in the 3rd pic...these are from 72.7W...I didnt have that sat loaded in the box yet) :)

I too would like to hear if it has been addressed oficially anywhere. There hasn't been much info lately about the addition (or lack thereof) of the local HD's that were announced to be up by the end of July. I think it's been overshadowed by the 1080p we were promised. The customers in the locations listed have been planning on having locals in HD for the Olympics. Looks like we were played for fools again.

I thought I saw in another post that they "heard" Aug 6th...well.....it's over now...and still nothing I am getting discouraged. I can tell you this....if D* gets my locals before E* then I am switching. . .and I think that is the first time I have EVER said that on this site!

I just don't get it. The Eastern Arc has always seemed to me like a "nice to have" not a "gotta get working ASAP or else". Could someone explain why Dish is in such an all fired rush to implement the Eastern Arc?

Is the EA going to slow/stop the net loss in subs more than implementing more HD locals in the remaining markets?

Is it costing DIsh so much to install wing dishes for HD locals on 61.5?

FWIW I have a Dish 1000.2 (129,119,110) and a Dish 500 (61.5). So the EA is a yawner for me. If Dish offered to come out and install a Dish 1000.4 for free, I'd tell them to take a hike. Since the EA is being hobbled together with space junk, I rather have two shots at most of the HD channels in my dishHD Absolute sub :)

EA is a rush because currently it is the only way Dish can add HD LiLs at this time. And, they have to have a single dish solution to compete.

Thanks again for your typically concise explanation of a complex situation:)

Ahh for the innocence of a new Dish sub who wants a single dish solution....
"No problem. We can install one of our new Dish 1000.4s and you can get all the channels Dish offers from our new Eastern Arc!" (using some hobbled together space junk that may or may not live until we get their replacements into orbit. Not tomention that one of these babies went dark before it could make it over to the Eastern Arc.) "Please sign here. It is only a 2 year commitment." (regardless of whether Dish can keep the EA lit up that long)

So Talon has a one dish solution, screw the Easterners.

LOL!
No. My point was that given the condition of Dish's sats a single dish solution seems a bit risky:) FWIW I have a dish 1000.2 that sees 110, 119 and the wobbly sat at 129 and a dish 500 that sees the aging sats at 61.5 for my HD LiLs and backup for national HD.
