Does this mean that USA and SCIFI are now MPEG4 HD instead of MPEG2 HD? Do I need to go to 5502 and 5503 to see the MPEG4 feed or will it still map to the usual channels? I am not a big watcher of either channel but I hope to see even better video due to MPEG4.

Wow. More MPEG-4 SD local channels.


Doesn't look like any of the local HD channels originally announced for addition last week are getting added this week either. Maybe we'll start hearing announcements for those channels to be added some time next year on a new replacement satellite (and then never see the additions happen there either).

I thought they were already in MPEG4?

As for their positioning in the middle of the Alaska/Hawaii block, they're on a CONUS beam and they're both visible on my Pennsylvania subscription.

Don't know if this has anything to do with it but ION local stations are set to go HD.

Sometimes my receiver defaults to the 110 position instead of 61.5 on USA and SCIfi. I wish it would stay on 110 because the tp on 61.5 is so weak. Can anybody explain why it would do that?

Just depends on which table entry the receiver sees first. It will flip flop back and forth as the receiver looks at the tables.

They show up on 5502 and 5503 in the middle of the spot beam HD's for AK and HI. They don't map to 122 (SCI-FI) or 105 (USA) for us in AK.

So, it might be only for certain subscribers.

It's not in the guide either, so it is either " (H) " or " (NA) ".

Instead, every so often, press the GUIDE button on your remote. If there is a new channel available to you, it will be there.
