Upgrading Receiver, New access card

I am upgrading my reciver do I need to get a new access card for it

If you are buying a new reciver then it will come with the needed access card.

If you are purchasing a used receiver, you'll need to call DirecTV and order a new one. $20

Under certain circumstances it is possible to use either the card that came with the used receiver (assuming it came with one) or the card in the box you are upgrading from, it depends on the CSR but it is worth the try - you may save $20
