Upgrade Available?

I've seen some differing opinions on this and wanted to know if there was any clear cut answer on this. Are the new upgrades available to everyone? I'm still in my "commitment" phase and am hearing that usually you have to be a customer 1 year prior to any upgrades.

My only question is that with my 811 I'll be unable to see MPEG-4 (when it's finally up). If they are turning off MPEG-2 at some point it would seem they would have to let me upgrade.

I'm guessing they'll let anyone upgrade, especially since the new packages get them more money, but I'm still wondering.

I believe the upgrade is available regardless of your length of time with Dish. They want to transition everyone over to the new MPEG4 enable STBs.

This is a great question that I never heard an "official answer" to. I have two leased 811's and my contract is not up until May. I was wondering if I can upgrade to 211's now or if I have to wait until May. Does anyone have any more information on whether people with less than a year with Dish can upgrade ?

Better, join the Retailer Chat online today, here at noon. More info is expected on the upgrade program. Hopefully, availability dates and more details will be made released. It would also be nice if they clarified if there are any differences between upgrading people with owned units vs leased units, and any special consideration for people that just recently purchased 942s or other STBs.
