Unlock movies already recorded on dvr

I have an old receiver. My dvr has about half of it's programs locked. My husband was always in control of the remote and lock codes. He died recently and i don't know the code to unlock. Is there a way to unlock without code?

Call Dish at 1-800-333-3474. If you are an authorized user on the account, they should be able to unlock your receiver for you.

They will send what’s called a parental hit to clear any and all locks on the the receiver.
