Will a universal KU LNBF work with an older analog satellite receiver to pickup analog KU channels? If so, what satellite do you recommend I try pointing to first to get a signal?

Thank You,
Dave

AMC9 (83W) TP19 H polarity has a test card most of the time :)

I don't know if a universal will work because of the 2 frequency ranges

2 frequency ranges? Do all universal KU LNBF's support both KU and DBS?

I am still confused about the universal KU LNBF. What is the main difference?

How is the 22K used?

I know the universal has a wider frequency range and can pick up some extra channels. What satellite transponder is an example of this?

Thank You,
Dave

A Universal LNBF has two bands (hi and Lo), and when a 22khz tone is sent to the LNBF it switches between them. It is still a linear polarized LNBF so cant be used for DBS satellites, those are circular polarized.

Only the new Invacom QPH-031 will work for both cp and lp polarities :yes

So, if a person isn't interested in Cubavision on Pas9 they probably should go with a standard KU LNBF that will work on both analog and digital channels.

Pete, that Invacom universal LNBF has an excellent noise figure. I might just sign up for one of the new ones you have advertised that support both circular and linear polarizations. I will let you know once all of the other equipment I ordered arrives and gets setup.
