I am thinking of adding a 2nd OTA ant to point at Pittsburgh 24-7 so I do not have to move my main unit when I want to watch the Pitt stations. Can I ad a VERY directional/ Very powerful antenna -what would be a good unit. And can I run both ant into one cable and have the H20 pick up from both? My TV has A HD tuner so I could run it into that in a pinch, but it would be easier to have them all listed on the h2o at one time and not have to switch the TV and Receiver to just get the Pitt locals.

Any help would be helpful.

I imagine a high quality and high frequency-capable splitter/combiner should be able to get the job done. Barring that, I'd suggest an A/B switch.

those were my only two options i was thinking too. one true way to find out though, try the first one and if it dont work then the 2nd. lol sro bro but i dont think many on here have tried that yet.

you can definitely do that as ive been doing ota x 2 for 3 years, no a/b switch though as it would not send both ota to h20 at the same time only when selected. a simple but high quality splitter/combiner is all thats needed. the only problem i ran into was ghosting on sd stations but h20 doesnt tune sd so this should be no problem for you. good luck

Thank you, I have zero interest in getting SD OTA channels. I will order a combiner today. Now I need a Kick butt highly directional ant to get the Pittsburgh channels.

If any receiver will work with 2 antennas in your area, the H20 will do it, as it has the best multipath rejection of any D*/OTA receiver.

I get Springfield, MO & Ft Smith, AR markets using two different antennas pointed in different directions. Both antennas are run to a hybrid splitter/combiner (rat shack), used as a combiner. You get about a 3db loss with a combiner, so you may need a preamp. I had to add a CM 7777, which is a very good high gain/low noise preamp. A good UHF directional antenna that usually works well for channels 7 thru 69 is a CM 4228 8bay bowtie.

If the combined route doesn't work, use an A/B switch. Rat shack has remote controlled A/B switches. If you have a learning remote, it's only 1 extra button push to change antennas. And you can still use the D* guide.

Thanks guys. Now I need a KILLER VHF ant to mount under my current one to point the other direction.

I can get Pittsburgh- Youngstown-Cleveland- Akron- Kent- and steubenville with my current ant. But i do not want to have to use the rotor to move the thing to get Pittsburgh.

So I would like to add a 2nd ant and point it straight at Pittsburgh. It will just make it easier as I do not like to move the Ant because its hard to pick up 30 digital channels with the thing in one position. I have digital stations 360 degrees around me, but Pittsburgh is the furthest away, so I have to point the Ant that way to get channels 2-4and11.

You don't need a VHF antenna for Pittsburgh. All the Pittsburgh digitals are broadcasting in the UHF band, not VHF. They are just showing their old analog channel numbers in the channel banner, which is very confusing.
